Weekend Roundup

I can't believe tomorrow is July 1st already.  Even more astounding is the fact that I have been back to work for a month.  Why is it that as you get older, time goes by so much faster?

The rain this past Saturday was a nice change b/c it allowed us to enjoy some down time.  You don't feel guilty relaxing on the couch in front the of TV or leisurely doing laundry when its pouring outside.  Normally we are trying to cram in as many outdoor activities as possible to take advantage of the summer weekends spent together.  But I welcomed the rain this time b/c honestly running from one thing to the next is exhausting, esp with a baby in tow.

We originally planned our wedding rehearsal dinner at The Whitebriar.  However, it didn't plan out but they turned our deposit into a gift card.  So Friday night we enjoyed dinner and drinks in Avalon.
Our only outing on Saturday in the rain was to the pool for Daddy/Daughter swim time. Liv went underwater for the first time at 16 weeks old.

Randy said it put a smile on his face each time around to see Liv and I there to cheer him on.

Look at that scowl.
Liv, wearing team colors, and I traveled to Marlton on Sunday to watch Daddy race.

We topped off the gorgeous day with a little boat ride for afternoon cocktails.

The sun setting on another fun filled family weekend.

Diving Reflex

The diving reflex also known as the bradycardic response causes babies to naturally hold their breath when submerged.  It is believed to disappear around 6 months so we decided after Liv was use to the water that we would do it.   We did not plan on dunking her this past weekend or I would have been better prepared with a GoPro to capture her underwater. But you can't always plan life, sometimes it just happens.

Here are some tips I read about preparing your baby:
  • During bath time, pour water over your babies head.
  • In the pool, make eye contact with your baby.
  • Count to three (or say "name, ready, go!") to set the signal.
  • Blow quickly on your baby's face so they hold their breath before submerging.

Weekend Roundup according to my Iphone

Liv's new headbands made by a mother on the coastguard base. Check out Tiptoes Bowtique on FB.

My brother came down early for the weekend on Thursday night so we had a fun family outing on the boat. But it truly felt like Friday which sucked when we had to get up and go to work the next morning.

I think my girlfriend is feeling the effects of the heat/humidity we are experiencing b/c all she wants to do lately is sleep.

My little helper asleep on the job at work.

Happy 1st Father's Day to this stud who continues to amaze me each day with his nurturing & loving tendencies. He chose to spend his special day taking Liv swimming. Nothing makes me happier than seeing these two together especially when she looks at him and smiles ear to ear.

Chatbooks

Recently while checking out a blog I follow, I was introduced to Chatbooks.  This company creates books from your Instagram photos or a custom album.  The process is super easy and each 60 page book is only $6.  I was just thinking the other day about what if my phone died, b/c I don't back anything up, or Instagram/Facebook shut down since that is the only place I share my photos.  I would need meds to pull me out of a depression of losing all the great memories I store in my phone like the birth of my baby.  Well now I have the perfect solution.  I already ordered 4 books and am working on creating the next 2 as we speak. I have not seen the final product yet, so I hope they live up to my expectations.  See below for a code to get your first book free.

3 Months Old

Size: My little tank is 15 lbs already and growing every day.

Sleep: Nine hours, wakes for a morning snack and then another hour before babbling away.

Eat: Girlfriend eats every 2 hours and will get fussy if you try to stretch it out any longer unless she is napping. But you better have the bottle waiting for her when she wakes up from the afternoon nap b/c she is ravenous.  I can't say what her intake is though b/c it is constantly changing.  Sometimes she will take 2 oz and other times it's 5 oz.  I guess it all depends on how much she breastfed earlier that day.

Likes: Tubby time, anything to do with her Daddy, rolling, her hands & light up musical toys
