As I sit here typing, I can't believe my little girl is already 19 days young. I just want to freeze her in time so I can really enjoy every minute. No wonder they say you blink and they are 18 years old. I feel like she was just born yesterday but she will be 3 weeks old in just a couple days.
Miss Olivia is already quite strong. She can move and flail her head very well. She is already trying to turn on her side. She will stiff arm me to avoid the harness in her car seat. Just this week she has begun to zero in on objects and will stare at them for lengths of time. When she cries it sounds like "a ghee." When I stepped on the scale this weekend, my not so little peanut weighed 9.5lbs. Did I forget to mention she loves to eat - consuming about 3oz every 2 hours. She sleeps from anywhere between 2-4 hours straight at night and usually gives the biggest smile right before falling asleep. Most of the time she keeps her hands by her face which isn't surprising because at my 32 week ultrasound we couldn't see her face since her hands were covering it. She HATES to be changed, take a tubby or get dressed and will wail to let you know she isn't happy. My girl just wants to be cuddly warm. Olivia has a posterior tongue tie that we thought might need to get clipped but so far she has been a champ at latching on while breastfeeding so the doctor is less concerned about it due to good tongue movement.
In total I put on 46 lbs while pregnant and still have 20 lbs to lose. Breastfeeding is certainly helping with tightening my belly and losing the extra weight. Each week I can see a difference. I am lucky to report no postpartum depression so far. I really enjoy walking Liv in the stroller on any nice day outside. I can make it about 2 miles before my uterus tells me I've done enough. My temperature gauge is back to normal. While pregnant I would set the thermostat to 61 and still be hot with a leg out of the covers at night. Now I keep the house at 70 and am just warm enough.
