MDW2015

Weekend roundup....

We kicked off Memorial Day Weekend with the Memorial Beach Challenge which benefits service members, veterans and their families with a stand-up paddle board race in the ocean or an obstacle course on the beach.  I am happy to say I was able to finish the 2+ mile run in the soft sand with water pits, crossfit stations, ladder climbs & army crawls just eleven weeks after having a baby.

On Sunday, Olivia was baptized with all our family in attendance.  She wore the same gown my mother wore 65 years ago to be baptized.  It has been tradition for all of us to wear it and I am honored that Livie was also able to wear such a special garment on her big day.  In addition, a close family friend, who is a priest, performed the ceremony and Liv was #20 of those whom he baptized in my extended family.  She is destined for greatness with all the love and support that surrounds her.

My mother's beautiful christening gown which still looks brand new and Livie was the 10th to wear it.

Some babies might cry during the pouring of the water, but my happy child laughed and was full of smiles during the whole ceremony.

My sister and her husband graciously accepted the role of Liv's godparents and we couldn't be happier.

Somehow I have not found a picture of my side of the family but am still looking.

Where does time go...2 month update

My baby girl is gone and replaced with a big girl already at 10 weeks old. At her two month appointment last week, she weighed 13 lbs 11oz which put her in the 97th percentile for weight but she is also in the 83rd percentile for length. So she is not small in any regards. The most surprising aspect of her visit was finding out her head circumference went from the 40th to 70th percentile in one month. She is strong as all heck too. She loves to pull herself up to a sitting position and will throw herself forward if you do not help her. Her other fun hobby is to stand with assistance. She has begun to babble like crazy especially to her pink elephant which hangs from the carrier. She is so happy every morning and greets you with gigantic smiles, but I guess I would to if I just slept 10 hours. She continues to sleep on her belly and will awake around 4 or 5 am for a quick snack and diaper change but then back to sleep for a few more hours of beauty rest.

I am currently trying to establish a napping schedule since I return to work in 2 weeks. The morning nap occurs in her swing for 1-1.5 hours around 9 which has been a godsend allowing me to shower, pump and clean up. However, the afternoon nap continues to pose problems. She has no problem falling asleep on the floor under her activity mat so I know she must be tired but refuses to nap in her crib or pack n play. So far she is definitely winning this battle.

Last big milestone to mention is she rolled over at 9 weeks old. The day we went to the doctor for her two month shots, he mentioned she would be rolling soon and don't you know she did it that afternoon.  I flipped her right back over to get it on video luckily b/c she has only done it one additional time while she was supposed to be sleeping on Mother's Day. After thinking she would eventually give in and take a nap, I gave in and went to get her out of the pack n play to find her flipped over.
